Since 2019, dtm-group has operated a research data centre in north-eastern Sweden. Focus areas: IT cabling, high-performance computing, energy optimisation, green IT. The data centre is not a showroom. It runs in production, every day.
Vaiking monitors power consumption, cooling performance, server utilisation and building management systems there. Fully automated, with real-time alerts and configurable thresholds. The system has run in production since day one. Over five years in a live data centre. Not tested. Proven.
Data centre, IT and building systems in one system. Defined automated interventions as part of the operating model. That software did not exist.
So we built Vaiking ourselves. Developed and proven in our own data centre. In production since 2019. Not as a side project. As a response to a real operational need. No outsourced product brand. Product development and operational experience reside in the same organisation.
The development history goes back further than 2019: as early as the 1980s, dtm-group developed rack and panel systems. In 2011, the ENVI Monitor followed, an earlier monitoring solution that was in operation until Vaiking. Vaiking is not the first system we have built from an internal operational need, but it is the most advanced.
The name Vaiking is a tribute to the research data centre in north-eastern Sweden that made Vaiking possible.

Hans Moll founded dtm-group in 1968 as a specialist in security and electrical systems. The core business evolved over decades: from electrical and security systems to IT infrastructure, communications cabling and networking. Today the second generation leads the company: Hedwig Moll and Jan Moll (dtm Datentechnik Moll GmbH), Andreas Köppl and Jan Moll (LANconcept Moll GmbH).
Vaiking is developed by the same people who operate it every day in their own data centre. And who stand behind their product and its operation with their names and address. Product maintenance, operational experience and contract partners reside in the same group of companies.
